Pietro Moretti, son of the director Nanni Moretti, was born in Rome in 1996 and completed his studies in Fine Arts at the Slade School of Art in London (2020). From the outset, he has participated in numerous group exhibitions, demonstrating his growing talent.
In his works, Pietro Moretti primarily employs oil and watercolor in vibrant, acidic tones. His inclination toward an expressionist imprint is revealed in the chaotic nature of his strokes and the thickness not only of the compositions but also in the orchestration of the brushstrokes, which often leave raised traces on the painting's surface.
Moretti's technique evokes private atmospheres and lived emotional states, amplified by the material quality of his painting. The artist studies the intrinsic connection between painting and the body, asserting that only through this art can one enjoy a unique temporal experience: a painting can be observed for brief moments or for hours, without a definitive conclusion.
The world that Moretti proposes is a contemporary reworking of childhood fairy tales, a hymn to the fragility of dreams and perceptions, and a narrative of the contradictions and ambivalence of human experience.
