Claudio Bonichi was born in Novi Ligure in 1943. As a son of an aviation officer, he experienced frequent relocations, including a move to Rome, which ultimately became his adopted city. With this work, the lawyer Giuseppe Iannaccone began his journey as a collector. Bonichi's Sirena immediately demonstrated to him how art can be captivating and rich in meaning. Wounded by a pitchfork in the lagoon of Venice, the mermaid symbolizes a dual perspective: for Iannaccone, she was saved by the masked man, while for many others, she was attacked and left to perish by the same figure. It was here that he realized how a work of art originates from the artist's idea but lives and gains significance only in the eyes of the observer.
