Ronald Ventura was born in 1973 in Manila, Philippines, where he continues to live and work. He studied painting at the University of Santo Tomas, where he now teaches. His technical skill is exemplary, to the extent that sometimes the subject of his works appears secondary; it seems more like a vehicle to showcase the richness of the composition and the surface quality that his talent can manifest.
In the collection of Giuseppe Iannaccone, there are several sculptures from the “Zoomanities” series created in 2008. The references to classical art allow for contemporary citations: sculptures that are half-human and half-animal, winking and smiling, evoke images of the pin-up girls that began to circulate in many weekly magazines in the United States during World War II.
